This morning we sadly had to say goodbye to Turneffe. It is truly a very relaxing island. We are actually going to have to put on some shoes!
Even the dog is sad to have us live |
Approaching Belize City |
Our flight to Dagringa, the closest airport to Hamanasi, was on Maya Air in a 10 or so passenger plane.
Jeri, Molly, and I got to sit in the 1st class section in the back of the plane, allowing us to stretch out. Dave, was seated behind the co-pilot with his knees in his ears.Fortunately, the flight lasted only about 15 minutes.
Flying over Turneffe on ht way to Hamanasi |
We were met at the airport for a 40 minute drive to Hamanasi Adventure Dive Resort in Hopkins.
Just in time for a great lunch of grilled snapper sandwiches and snapper tacos. Good thing we will be cycling soon to take off all the weight we're gaining here.
The rooms are beautiful with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. Hamanasi is a bit more structured than Turneffe, but I could get used to either one.
We checked in with our adventure specialist, Brendon, and mapped out our plans for the week, then off to the dive center for equipment. By the time we were finished and showered, it was time for a late dinner. I hope my pants will fit to come home.
Tomorrow we are up early for a trip to Mayan ruins.
